Play Date Cafe Challenge #167

Hello everyone! I hope the end of the month is treating you well! Can you believe it is almost February??

This week we have a very fresh color combination for you:

Here is my take on it:

I do have to credit Donna Downey, because I essentially "scrap-lifted" ("art-lifted"?) this page of hers:

Let's be honest though, hers is much better! But I tried :)

If you want to participate in The play Date Cafe challenge, it's easy! To get full rules and prize information, check out the blog.

Play Date Cafe Challenge #166 - Succeed!

This week we have a very fun and bold color splash!

I will be honest, it has been a very long couple of weeks lately. I won't go into details, but I have been very stressed! I was really struggling with this one--mostly because as a mixed media artist, it is very hard for me to only use one color :) But they don't call it a "challenge" for nothing!

I decided to make a tag but wasn't sure what type of sentiment or quote to add. I realized that I had picked a word for my "One Little Word" this year but hadn't actually created anything with it yet. I decided that the bold green would be perfect to go with my word.  I hope you like it!

If you want to play along too, it's easy! Just visit The Play Date Cafe for complete rules and information. This week's sponsor is Viva LasVegastamps!

Play date Cafe Challenge #165

I absolutely love this week's color story! Take a look:

And, I tried something new this week--an altered canvas. I really like the result:

As you can tell, I used a variety of items for this....notably some Sizzix dies and embossing folder, a Tim Holtz ticket, a canvas key by Prima, a Heidi Swapp resistable heart, and the harlequin stencil by Crafter's Workshop with modeling paste in the background. The pansy sticker in front is by K&Company from like 10 years ago. Everything else is from my general stash.

If you liked this and want to see more altered canvases, check out The Paper Haus today...you might see something you like!

If you love these colors and want to play along too, check out The Play Date Cafe! You can win a prize from the fabulous prize vault this week! Complete rules and details and prize information can be found at the blog.

Play Date Cafe #164

That's right, it's that time of the week again when The Play Date Cafe has a brand-new color story for us! Take a look at this super funky color story:

I decided that if I tried to do a messy art journal page with these colors, it might end up looking weird and possibly gross (!) but I also knew that would be just PERFECT for a clean and simple style card.

So, that's what I did...of course I did have to add some paint in there, because it's just so much fun to play! but I really like the end result!

I think this would be really nice for a guy, even with the flowers. Hmmm....some guy that I know, his birthday is coming up soon...!

Anyways, if you are inspired by this palette, be sure to check out The Play Date Cafe blog for complete challenge information.   You could win a gift certificate to amazing Simon Says Stamp! Wow!

I hope you have a great week!

Play Date Cafe Challenge #163

I absolutely love the color story this week:

Unfortunately, with the holidays, I didn't get as much time to create as I would have liked! So, I made a little tag:

And, I happened to remember a digital layout I created almost 2 years ago with a very similar color palette. It's still one of my favorite layouts today! I figured I would share:

As a sidenote, I am becoming a little discouraged with paper scrapping because I actually like my digital layouts a lot better so far.  Like I said, I made this two years ago, but I feel like it is better than any paper layout I have made recently.  I hope that I can start to get the hang of this paper thing! I guess I just gotta keep at it! The first digital layouts I made 5 years ago were pretty bad too, I suppose!

Anyways, if you are inspired by the color story, please play along with us! All you have to do is create a new project and then link us up! This week, you could win a prize from our amazing prize vault :) For complete challenge information, head over to The Play Date Cafe blog!
